Send huge, 10GB email attachments with Gmail and Google Drive
November 28, 2012, 1:04 PM ? There are tons of large file-sending sites out there, but most of us just want to share files the direct, old-fashioned way--by sending an email. Inevitably, however, we run into email attachment size limits. You can now bypass Gmail's meager 25MB attachment size limit by using Google Drive.
By integrating its cloud storage service, Google Drive, with Gmail, Google now lets you attach files as large as 10GB (400 times larger than traditional attachments).
The feature is rolling out over the next few days. When it does for you, you'll see the new option to insert a Google Drive file in Gmail's new compose experience (there'll be a Drive icon at the bottom of the window). All you need to have is your specific file(s) saved to Google Drive. Google Drive gives you 5GB of free space and with the Google Drive app on your computer, all you need to do is save your files to the Google Drive folder.
Well, one more thing. You'll have to share the Drive files you want to attach with the recipient you're emailing, but Google lets you do that easily without leaving your email.

Puerto Rico says adios to boxer 'Macho' Camacho - Herald Online

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico ? Family, fans and fellow boxers said goodbye Tuesday to Hector "Macho" Camacho at a memorial and wake for the slain former world champion fighter known for his flamboyance in and out of the ring.
Hundreds of people took pictures and filed past Camacho's open casket, displayed inside a gymnasium decked out for the occasion with black carpet and curtains. The boxer wore white, along with a large gold crucifix and a necklace spelling out his nickname, "Macho," in capital letters.
First up were members of his immediate family, including his mother, Maria Matias, who wept and caressed her son's face in the coffin, which was draped in a Puerto Rican flag. "They killed him," she wailed at one point.
Camacho was shot Nov. 20 while sitting in a parked car with a friend outside a bar in Bayamon, his hometown. The friend died at the scene and the boxer three days later after doctors removed him from life support. Police have said they have suspects but have not yet arrested anyone for the shooting.
After the family came a cross-section of Puerto Rican society that included parents with children in strollers, the elderly, road crew workers in neon safety vests, U.S. soldiers in uniform and a who's who of Puerto Rican boxers.
As the service began, hundreds of people stood and clapped for nearly a minute. "What time is it?" someone in the crowd yelled. "It's Macho time!" the crowd responded.
"Everybody loved him here in Puerto Rico," said Henry Neumann, the secretary of the U.S. island territory's sports and recreation department. "He is one of those athletes who transcended the barriers of his country not only for his skill inside the ring but for his personality."
Hundreds of people waited patiently outside as officials closed the doors temporarily for the service. Loud salsa music pounded from speakers nearby, and a couple of vendors handed out Puerto Rican flags. Inside, people took advantage of the more than 30 former and current world boxing champions from Puerto Rico, yelling at them to come over for a picture or an autograph.
Above Camacho's casket was a large screen that showed some of his most famous bouts, along with clips of TV shows in which he appeared.
Camacho, who was 50 when he died, left Puerto Rico as a child and moved to New York. He went on to win super lightweight, lightweight and junior welterweight world titles in the 1980s and fought high-profile bouts against Felix Trinidad, Julio Cesar Chavez and Sugar Ray Leonard. He had a career record of 79-6-3 and was a showman in the ring, chanting "It's Macho time" before fights and wearing garish jewelry.
He battled drug and alcohol problems throughout his life and had frequent run-ins with police. When he was shot, police found an open package of cocaine in the car and nine unopened packages on his friend.
"No one deserves to die in such a manner, especially someone that has brought so much glory to Puerto Rico," said Jose Penagaricano, the former president of the island's boxing commission.
A police officer in Bayamon, Raul Nazario, recalled at the wake how he saw Camacho one day and drove over in his squad car to greet him, but the boxer fled. Later, out of uniform, the officer said he ran into him again and they exchanged a laugh and Camacho posed with him for a photo.
"For Puerto Rican people he was something great," Nazario said.
Many of those in attendance had similar personal encounters. Doris Correa, a 71-year-old from the town of Vega Baja, showed a photo she took of Camacho in the 1980s, when her family and his happened to be camping in the same campground in the island's southwest. At one point, he grabbed a microphone, declared "it's Macho time," and began singing for everyone. "Back then, we didn't know what karaoke was," she said. "He invented it."
Boxer Juan Manuel "Juanma" Lopez, one of several dozen fighters on hand to say goodbye, recalled Camacho's dazzling speed in the ring. "He was definitely a showman," he said. "It was something grandiose."
The president of the World Boxing Organization, Francisco Valcarcel, said Camacho opened the door for many other Puerto Rican boxers.
"No one in this world is perfect, and Macho was not perfect," he said. "But Macho paved the road."
The memorial and wake was scheduled to last two days.
Camacho's godson, Widniel Adorno, said the boxer's body will be flown to New York on Thursday, and that a funeral is scheduled for the weekend.

President John Dramani Mahama says it is only the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that has a cogent programme on education which links up the various levels on the educational ladder.
He said the NDC planned to expand access at the basic level, secondary and tertiary levels.
President Mahama was addressing students of the Koforidua Polytechnic who cheered him on as he addressed them.
President Mahama, who is the Presidential candidate of the NDC for the 2012 election, had earlier addressed rallies at Atimpoku, Odumase Krobo, Adukrom, Adawso and Begoro.
People lined up the streets in all the areas to catch a glimpse of the President and cheer him on. Some among the crowd danced ?Azonto? to the NDC?s songs.
The President said the next NDC government would continue with efforts to make basic education truly free and universal and take steps to make SHS progressively accessible and free.
He said the next NDC government would build 200 community senior high schools (SHS) to accommodate more students from the Junior High Schools (JHS).
Besides, he said, the government would put up 10 colleges of education, build more vocational and technical schools, build more nursing and midwifery training colleges and establish one public university in the Eastern Region.
The President said the expansion of facilities at the various levels of the educational ladder would allow students to progress from one stage of the educational ladder to the other without any hitches.
On polytechnic education, he said the next NDC government would improve faculties and expand infrastructure at the various polytechnics to make it possible for the polytechnics to award their own degrees.
Under that arrangement, he said polytechnic students would be able to acquire their own degrees without affiliation to any universities.
President Mahama said the NDC could be trusted to deliver on its promises because it had a track record of delivery.
For instance, he said, it was the first NDC government that established the University of Education, Winneba, the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa, and the University for Development Studies (UDS) in the north.
Besides, he said, the previous NDC government established 119 SHS, seven polytechnics and several vocational and technical schools.
The President said the current NDC government has established the University of Health and Allied Sciences in the Volta Region and the University of Energy and Natural Resources in the Brong Ahafo Region, indicating that both universities had just matriculated their first batches of students.
He, therefore, asked Ghanaians to discount the NPP?s proposed free SHS since it was a m ere political gimmick to get Ghanaians into voting for the party.
President Mahama contended that the NDC government?s performance in the areas of education, healthcare, economy and infrastructure development in the last four years had been remarkable.
He said the NDC government used the period to lay the foundation.
Therefore, he said, it was crucial for Ghanaians to renew the mandate of the NDC to build on what it had started.

This year's Black Friday shoppers were split into two distinct groups: those who wanted to fall into a turkey-induced slumber and those who'd rather shop.
Stores typically open in the wee hours of the morning on the day after Thanksgiving that's called Black Friday because of retail folklore that it's when merchants turn a profit for the year. But after testing how shoppers would respond to earlier hours last year, stores such as Target and Toys R Us this year opened as early as Thanksgiving evening. That created two separate waves of shoppers.
Sam Chandler, 55, and his wife, Lori Chandler, 54, were a part of the early group. By the time they reached the Wal-Mart in Greenville, S.C. early Friday, they had already hit several stores, including Target and Best Buy. In fact, they had been shopping since midnight.
"We've learned over the years, you have to stand in line early and pray," Sam said.
Stu and April Schatz, residents of Rockland County, N.Y., preferred to get a later start. They went to the Shops at the Garden State Plaza mall in Paramus, N.J., which didn't open until 7 a.m. on Black Friday, because they didn't want to deal with the crowds that show up for openings late night on Thanksgiving or midnight on Black Friday.
"It's so much more civilized going in the morning," said April Schatz, a teacher. "We wanted to enjoy our evening."
The earlier hours are an effort by stores to make shopping as convenient as possible for Americans, who they fear won't spend freely during the two-month holiday season in November and December because of economic uncertainty. Many shoppers are worried about high unemployment and a package of tax increases and spending cuts known as the "fiscal cliff" that will take effect in January unless Congress passes a budget deal by then.
At the same time, Americans have grown more comfortable shopping on websites that offer cheap prices and the convenience of being able to buy something from smartphones, laptops and tablet computers from just about anywhere. That puts added pressure on brick-and-mortar stores, which can make up to 40 percent of their annual revenue during the holiday shopping season, to give consumers a compelling reason to leave their homes.
That's becoming more difficult: the National Retail Federation, an industry trade group, estimates that overall sales in November and December will rise 4.1 percent this year to $586.1 billion, below last year's 5.6 percent growth. . But the online part of that is expected to rise 15 percent to $68.4 billion, according to Forrester Research.
As a result, brick-and-mortar retailers have been trying everything they can to lure consumers into stores. Some stores tested the earlier hours last year, but this year more retailers opened their doors late on Thanksgiving or at midnight on Black Friday. In addition to expanding their hours, many also are offering free layaways and shipping, matching the cheaper prices of online rivals and updating their mobile shopping apps with more information.
"Every retailer wants to beat everyone else," said C. Britt Beemer, chairman of America's Research Group, a research firm based in Charleston, S.C. "Shoppers love it."
Indeed, some holiday shoppers seemed to find stores' earlier hours appealing. Julie Hansen, a spokeswoman at Mall of America in Minneapolis, said 30,000 people showed up for the mall's midnight opening, compared with 20,000 last year. She noted that shoppers are coming in waves, and sales aren't just being shifted around.
"This is additional dollars," Hansen said.
About 11,000 shoppers were in lines wrapped around Macy's flagship store in New York City's Herald Square when it opened at midnight on Black Friday. That's up from an estimated 9,000 to 10,000 shoppers who showed up the store's midnight opening last year.
Joan Riedewald, a private aide for the elderly, and her four children ages six to 18, were among them. By that time, she already had spent about $100 at Toys R Us, which opened at 8 p.m., and planned to spend another $500 at Macy's before heading to Old Navy.
"I only shop for sales," she said.
But some shoppers decided to stick to traditional Black Friday shopping hours. Joe Russell was hunting for a great deal on a large flat-screen TV and went to the Best Buy store in Watertown, Mass., shortly after midnight on Friday. But the long line of shoppers gunning for door-buster promotions deterred him from braving the freezing temperatures. So Russell, 47, returned to the store after sunrise and got a different TV for "a decent price."
"This is the earliest I've ever shopped," he said.
Elizabeth Garcia, a sales representative from the Bronx borough of New York City, also decided on a later shopping start at about 3:30 a.m. at Toys R Us in New York's Times Square. As a result Garcia, who has three children ages three, five and seven, believes she dodged some of the lines on Thanksgiving when the store opened at 8 p.m. That's good news since the crowds got to her last year, and she almost got into a fight over a Tinker Bell couch.
"This year I wasn't about to kill people," she said.
Meanwhile, Nicole Page of Bristol, Conn., shopped with her sister at a Wal-Mart in Manchester, Conn., at about 4:45 a.m. on Black Friday out of tradition. Page, who recently finished school and started working as a nurse, bought an electric fireplace for $200 that she said was originally $600. Her shopping cart also had candy canes, a nail clipper for her dog and other stocking stuffers.
"We try to make a tradition of it. It's kind of exciting," she said.

Meanwhile, stores that typically open early Friday were getting a head start on Thanksgiving evening, hoping Americans would be willing to shop soon after they polish off their pumpkin pie.

Additionally, the hair dryer can prevent dye from spreading to other areas. If you find an off limit area that is receiving color, dry it with a hair dryer then clean the spot up. Use the hair dryer again to dry the canvas.
Using a stretching frame is probably the easiest way to make the fabric canvas. This frame will pull the fabric out so that you can create your design and apply the dye. It helps prevent wrinkles in the fabric, and allows for optimal drying time. You can purchase a stretching frame in a store, or build your own with wood and hooks.

THE HAGUE, Netherlands (AP) ? Dope-selling coffee shops in Amsterdam won't be shutting their doors to foreign visitors any time soon, a huge relief to the hundreds of thousands of tourists who enjoy a toke or two in the Dutch capital alongside their excursions on the canals and to the museums.
Amsterdam welcomed Tuesday changes in the national government's drug policies as a green light to let tourists keep rolling in to the city's 220 world famous cafes that sell cannabis, marijuana and pre-rolled joints alongside cups of coffee.
On Monday night, Justice Minister Ivo Opstelten sent a letter to Parliament announcing he was scrapping a nationwide rollout of the so-called "weed pass" that was designed to keep non-Dutch residents out of coffee shops.
Beginning earlier this year in the south of the country, locals had to apply for a pass to get into such shops, but non-Dutch residents were barred in an effort to crack down on crime and traffic problems caused by people travelling from neighboring countries like Germany and Belgium to buy produce they could not legally get their hands on back home.
Opstelten says he still wants only Dutch residents allowed into coffee shops, but is leaving it up to local authorities to enforce the ban.
"We are happy with the plans presented by Minister Opstelten because he is focused on trying to decrease criminality around coffee shops," Amsterdam municipality spokeswoman Tahira Limon told The Associated Press. "He also said that cities or municipalities have room to look at what works for them and for Amsterdam this also means tourists can continue to visit coffee shops."
Coffee shops have been tolerated for years in the Netherlands. Advocates argue they reduce crime and health problems by regulating the sale of soft drugs.
Limon said the new policy "gives us room to actually make sure we do what is best for Amsterdam and that is allowing tourists (to visit coffee shops) because if we don't do that we fear there would be an increase in illegal street trade that comes with safety and health risks."
In the new policy, Opstelten also announced that coffee shops will be banned from selling cannabis and marijuana containing more than 15 percent THC, the naturally occurring chemical that gives marijuana smokers a high.

Specifically, Best Buy needs to stop complaining about things like Showrooming. Defined as customers coming into stores to "kick the tires" on products prior to buying online, showrooming has been fingered as one of the key reasons Best Buy won't make it. The reality is just the opposite.

With high gas prices, parking hassles and crowding, just getting people off the couch and into the store is tantamount to a major victory. 1. Match Prices of Key Competitors
It's a losing game to try to be the lowest price option for every product from every retailer online and in the store. Still, Best Buy does need to have or match the lowest prices offered by major competitors WalMart (WMT), Target (TGT) and Amazon (AMZN).

2. Train Staff to Add Value
The former home of the Geek Squad, Best Buy has been cutting back on store staffing and training in order to control expenses. That's exactly wrong. Giving a little love to your loyal customers goes a long way and is a key differentiation point between the bricks and mortar stores and internet price mercenaries.
If Best Buy wants to be alive next year it needs to stop running from its history. Having stores is a huge advantage. It gives Best Buy a sense of presence and respectability customers won't find on-line or on EBay (EBAY). Best Buy is trying to save cash when they should be trying to save the company. Plowing money back into stores is counter-intuitive but it's also the only chance Best Buy has to stay alive in the long term.

China appoints new top official for scandal-ridden Chongqing
BEIJING (Reuters) - China has confirmed that rising star Sun Zhengcai has been appointed Communist Party boss for the scandal-ridden southwestern city of Chongqing, taking the old job of disgraced Bo Xilai in the country's biggest metropolis.
As head of the sprawling Chongqing, left reeling in the wake of a corruption and murder scandal involving Bo, Sun will have to deal with the legacy of Bo, the former high-flyer at the center of China's biggest political scandal in decades.
Sun's appointment was announced in a brief statement carried by the official Xinhua news agency on Tuesday.
Bo was fired in March following his wife's implication in a murder, and Chongqing had been run in the interim by Vice Premier Zhang Dejiang. Zhang was promoted last week to the party's inner core of power, the seven-man Politburo Standing Committee.
Reuters reported earlier this month that Sun, 49, a former agriculture minister and then party boss of the northeastern province of Jilin, had been tipped to get the job.
Sun is emblematic of younger officials of humbler backgrounds who stand apart from the refined, urban backgrounds of the likes of president-in-waiting Xi Jinping and other so-called "princelings" - the descendants of former senior revolutionary leaders.
Sun is an agricultural expert who once ran a fertilizer factory and spent much of his early professional life in a rural part of Beijing. He served as agriculture minister from 2006-2009 after a surprisingly rapid promotion.
That set him up to take office in Jilin, the center of China's corn belt, where he has backed increased trade and infrastructure investment in North Korea.
Sun came to the attention of Premier Wen Jiabao when he was the party secretary of Shunyi District in Beijing, a formerly agricultural and now rapidly industrializing area that is host to the capital city's airport.
The party has accused Bo of abuse of power, corruption and hampering the murder investigation of a British businessman because his wife was the suspect. She has since been jailed, though formal charges have yet to be filed against Bo.
Bo's expulsion from the party drew an outcry from his leftist supporters and highlighted the deep rifts his prosecution could inflame. Bo remains popular in Chongqing for his social programmes and city improvement efforts.
Another young official, Inner Mongolia party chief Hu Chunhua, had also been seen as a potential candidate to take over in Chongqing.
But sources with ties to the leadership say Hu is now expected to be moved to the export powerhouse of Guangdong in the south, facing an economic slowdown due to the global downturn along with rising social tensions.
Hu spent two decades in restive and remote Tibet, where he came under the wing of Hu Jintao, the outgoing president. In Inner Mongolia, Hu Chunhua has overseen rapid economic growth and dealt successfully with protests last year by ethnic Mongols.

NFL: Saints' Terry Malone has sideline view of Aqib Talib, Jimmy Graham
Terry Malone is in his seventh season coaching tight ends for the New Orleans Saints. In addition to discussing the team's turnaround, the Holy Cross grad also weighed in on a couple of the game's most intriguing players ? albeit for different reasons.
The Saints play in the NFC South, which is also home to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. So he has gotten a good look twice a season for the past four years at cornerback Aqib Talib, whom the Patriots acquired in a trade Nov. 1.
Talib is expected to make his New England debut today when the Patriots face the Indianapolis Colts at Gillette Stadium. The delay was due to his having to serve the remainder of a four-game sentence for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
?He's an outstanding football player,? Malone said Friday. ?He's physical, he's got ball skills, he can make plays. He's got a tremendous amount of God-given talent.?
That's why the Bucs used the 20th overall pick in the 2008 draft on the unanimous All-America selection from Kansas. But there always has been an ?if? when it comes to Talib.
?If he can make the right decisions, if he buys into what the Patriots are selling,? Malone said, citing the same unknown variables as everyone else when trying to figure out how this is going to play out.
?And they're certainly one of the five or six programs in the NFL that you look at and say, 'Hey, if a guy can make it, this is the type of program he should be in,' because he's going to have leadership, he's going to have structure. If he buys into it, he can be just as good as anybody.?
Then there's one of his tight ends, Jimmy Graham.
The All-Pro is 6-foot-7 and 265 pounds, meaning he has the size of Rob Gronkowski. He can also can line up outside and is lethal down the seam, meaning he's got some Aaron Hernandez in him.
That's a good combo.
Graham caught 99 passes for 1,310 yards last season, briefly holding the league record for most yards by a tight end until Gronkowski surpassed him by 17 yards. He has been just as productive this year with 45 receptions for 533 yards and seven touchdowns.
The Saints drafted Graham in the third round in 2009 after he played one season of college football at Miami. He had previously spent his time playing for the Hurricanes' basketball team.
?I think the thing I'd like to share with you about Jimmy Graham is he's not only a big and fast guy, but he's a tremendously competitive athlete,? Malone said. ?I think that key ingredient separates him. There are a lot of big athletes out there that aren't successful for one reason or another. What Jimmy has is he wants to be the best, he yearns to play at the top of the game, and he's willing to work for it.
?He doesn't have a whole lot of football in his background, and it really hasn't been a negative because he's so willing to learn and so willing to listen. And he has a great mentor in David Thomas, who was with New England for the first part of his career, and of course Drew Brees.
?My advice to Jimmy was you can certainly listen to me, but you need to listen to Drew Brees because he is going to tell you exactly where you need to be and when you need to be there.?
Vollmer back in business
Sebastian Vollmer sat out all of training camp and nearly all of the preseason while making his way back from offseason back surgery. He split duties at right tackle with Marcus Cannon for the first two games, but has been a full-time starter since.
?It wasn't my first training camp, so I was familiar with the scheme,? Vollmer said last week. ?You shake off the rust and kind of roll with it. I think I'm feeling pretty good at this point.?
Um, yeah.
The 6-foot-8, 320-pound German made a number of media-selected midseason all-star teams after allowing just one sack in the first eight games.
?Individually we're all working to get the team better,? Vollmer said, deftly deflecting any praise. ?Personally, I feel like I'll see how that goes.?
Vollmer was the fourth and final second-round selection the Patriots made in 2009, following safety Patrick Chung, defensive lineman Ron Brace and cornerback Darius Butler. He was considered the most unpolished of the group, but has been an effective starter since day one.
Vollmer is making $675,000 this season, the last of his four-year rookie deal. He's slated to become an unrestricted free agent come February and will undoubtedly receive a hefty raise, be it in New England or elsewhere.

Some quick hits and (hopefully) useful numbers with regard to this week's games: The last three season series between the Panthers (2009, '11) and Buccaneers ('10) have been sweeps. The Bucs won the first meeting this season, 16-10, in Week 1. The Buccaneers have scored 28-plus points in five straight games. The Panthers are 0-5 in games decided by seven points or less. ? The Packers have won 12 of the past 13 meetings with the Lions, although three of the past four games have been decided by four points or less. ? The Texans have won three straight against the Jaguars, by 17, 10 and 7 points. ? The Cowboys are 1-2 at home where quarterback Tony Romo has thrown two TDs and 10 interceptions. ? The Eagles have won five of the past six meetings with the Redskins. ? The Chargers have won three straight and five of six at Denver. ? The Steelers and Ravens have split their last eight meetings. Seven of their last 10 meetings were decided by four points or less. The Steelers are 39-10 at home since 2007. Teams on the bye: Minnesota, New York Giants, Seattle, Tennessee. And how those coming off it have historically fared: Arizona (10-13, .435), Cleveland (6-18-1, .283), Green Bay (14-9, .609), Washington (11-12, .478).

Some random thoughts in no particular order:
?Today marks the 200th consecutive home sellout for the Patriots, playoff games included, a streak that dates to 1994. For those of us who were there in the '70s and '80s, it's truly remarkable.
?That said, New England is nowhere near the football town that Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Denver and, ugh, New York are. Not when fans continually yell ?sit down? as opposed to ?de-fense.?
?The Dolphins have lost three straight since I pegged them to make the playoffs. Oops. The Browns are 2-2 since I considered the possibility of Cleveland going winless.
?Curly's Pub at Lambeau Field is now offering the ?Lambeau Heap,? a barbecue-bacon-curd burger that weighs a pound and is topped with friend onion strings. Wonder if they deliver.
?A stick salute to the Oakmont field hockey team for returning to the Division 2 state final. The Spartans have gone 31-2-10 over the last two seasons.
