Back to the same story, though there?s plenty of information for free, but those are pretty much scattered to make a newbie confused.

This is where you need to invest. And of course you MUST spend on the IM tools without which you cannot go anywhere. Some basics of them are ?

• You need to buy domain(s)
• You need to buy hosting
• You need to buy autoresponder

Even when you are not ready to spend the whole amount at a time, you must be ready to invest on these basic things to get started with internet marketing.

Next, if you do not have the skill to develop a website, write contents, build backlinks for your site, you definitely need to invest more. This is obvious, but it?s really important that you spend money on the places where you are sure to get some returns.

Just to spend the money to get the same rehashed content may not worth it, if you don?t have the skills to build a business. In that case, you may need to pay double ? one for gaining the information (most of which is available for free) and next to buy the services (where you really need to invest if you don?t have the skill to build yourself).

So, here is a brief overview where you may need to spend money to get started with internet marketing and hence also giving you an approximate idea of initial investment for online business:

• Domain: $10/year
• Hosting: $7/month for shared hosting for multiple domains
• Autoresponder: $20/month
• WordPress for self-hosting: $0 (priceless, but you don?t need to pay anything)
• Build a site: $1-200 including basic theme and plugin installation and configuration, designing unique logo and Favicon, setting up the articles with relevant images, etc or $0 (if you know how to build it)
• Write contents for site: $70 (for 10 articles of 500 words each) or $0 (if you write yourself)
• Doing basic on page SEO: $50-100 (if you hire someone) or $0 (if you know how to do it)
• Opt-in form and subscription funnel design: $1-500 including report for subscribers, customized form, custom thank you page, integrating download link (without protection), etc or $0 if you know how to do it.

So, these are the basic costs involved when you are planning to build a site. This is very much approximate. You may need to invest a lot more than this, or may be less.

Next, you need to create backlinks once you are ready with your site. You may consider article marketing, link building from high PR sites, web2.0 submission, press release submission, video marketing, and so on. The cost depends on the providers you choose to buy these services and the requirements you have at that moment.

Lastly, you must remember that any brick and mortar business, online business is also a real business opportunity that needs investment. Although there is a potential that you can earn money online without spending anything, this might not turn out as a business.

Just like any real-world business, online business has every room to grow and you too can build a solid income stream online, just take it as serious as you do for any real-world business.
